At your appointment, we'll go over your history and give your eyes a thorough look. Because we have ophthalmologists on staff, we can provide an advanced level of care. The average optometrist simply isn't trained to offer the level of service our doctors provide for you and your eyes.

• Comprehensive Eye Exams - thorough assessment of your eye health and visual acuity
• Dialation - eye drops that enlarge your pupils to examine the inside of your eye
• Glaucoma Test - measurement of the pressure inside your eye with the “puff of air” test, which is painless and analyzes how the eye resists to the air puff
• Slit-Lamp Examination - procedure used by ophthalmologists to examine the structures of the front and inside of your eye using a specialized microscope equipped with a bright, adjustable slit-shaped light source, allowing for a magnified and detailed view of the cornea, conjuctiva, iris, pupil, anterior chamber and lens to find eye dieases and infections
• Refraction Vision Correction Testing - determine level of presbyopia, nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism and prescription needed for glasses or contacts

Emergency Eye Care Services

Annual eye exams can help you preserve your vision. However, sometimes, your needs may be acute. If you're experiencing an eye emergency, Northwest Eye Center is here to support you. Most of our service is by appointment, but we have a 24-hour answering service available for your most pressing needs.

In the unlikely event that our answering service is unavailable, we recommend contacting Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital. We have affiliations at the hospital, and their team will reach out to our physicians to ensure you get the emergency support you need.
